Aaro and our Indigenous Partner, Yurra Pty Ltd, were engaged by Rio Tinto for the 2019 Culvert Refurbishment Program. These works involved the CCCP Relining of ten culvert locations and the UV GRP CIPP Relining of five locations, along the Hamersley Iron and Robe River Rail Lines. The culverts ranged from DN1200 to DN3100, each with its own challenges.
One location was in an environmentally sensitive area, close to a known aboriginal heritage site and with a significant billabong only two meters from the culvert. This proved to be a challenge logistically, as the space around the culvert was restricted and all materials had to be craned in or taken by hand. Access was also limited, and a custom walkway was installed to allow safe pedestrian access to the work area.
The most significant location relined was a seventeen-barrel, 40m long, DN2600 group of culverts, using our CentriPipe product imported from America.
